If Oasis and Stone Roses conceived a musical lovechild in the thick of the Madchester era, it would sound like Sugarspun’s ‘Spaceman Dreams’. Bolstering drums drive whirring guitars and a vocal that sounds like it could’ve come straight from Liam Gallagher’s mouth. Though every detail in the music points to the musical mecca of the north, the band actually hail from the unlikely rock n roll hotbed of Carlisle in Cumbria. Having started as an acoustic duo, comprising vocalist Jamie and guitarist Steven, the pair subscribed to a larger vision and later recruited three more bandmates. Michael (rhythm guitar), Luke (bass) and Andy (drums) complete the line-up. When we spoke to the frontman about the songs lyrical content he told us the track is about “never giving up on your childhood dreams, no matter how difficult life gets”.
